BOO Jig Fishing Tips by Alton Jones
The BOOYAH Boo Jig is a great tool year round, but my favorite time of the year to fish it is during late winter and early spring. Water temperatures between 40 and 55 degrees are ideal for catching giant bass on this sweet little bait.
I'm usually looking for bluff banks or chunk rock points about half way back in the creeks and coves. Don't be afraid to throw it right against the bank. You'll be surprised how many bass big bass will move shallow, even in cold weather. Work the bait gently down the rock banks with a very slow drag and stop motion. If you catch a fish make repeated casts to the same spot because this time of year they are usually bunched up.
Tip the Boo Jig with a 3" YUM Chunk and match the color as close as you can. My favorite colors are Black/Blue and PB&J.
